CHERRY

With an intense reddish color and a sweet flavor, cherries are one of the most tasty and attractive fruits grown in Andalusia, ideal for desserts or other confectionery products and even for cocktails.

And although it may seem hard to believe, in Sierra Nevada it is possible to gaze at the cherry blossom print, that are situated in the small locality of Güejar Sierra, where for more of a century has become its star crop.

It is prized for its texture and hardness that makes it practically explode in the mouth when you bite into it.

The conditions of altitude as well as the quality of the water for the maintenance of the cherry trees, which is a fruit, of the Hudson variety, that features an excellent quality. Such is the importance of production that it is estimated that around one million tons are sold each season.

Schedule: Güejar Sierra celebrates every year its gastronomic days of the Güejareña cherry, in which the bars and restaurants of this town offer dishes and menus made with these fruits and where a tapas route is also organized in which both neighbors and visitors can taste small samples of culinary creations with this product.
